Life goes on (a year after immortal beginnings. )

I think I got it. You have a seat and relax. Want anything while I'm cooking? Mikko asked Vic. She wasn't do too much cooking all she really needed to do was warm up the meat. But if Vic wanted something she wouldn't mind taking out the pots and cooking something up.

Angel sat patently at the table drumming his hands softly on the table top and doing a little wiggle dance. He was very happy being at his mom's house and getting meat.

Flag was still a little put off by Daryl's attitude, but decided against saying anything about it. Still, Aaron felt the need to apologize on behalf of his friend. "Maybe you should come get checked out? That was a nasty bite.."

Flag shook his head. He knew Cindy was busy with the little girl and he was trying to keep their presence here from inconveniencing anyone. "Loki healed the wound. I'm fine." He told Aaron. "I'm just here to check on the kid. How is she?" He would have gone in to see for himself, but 'seeing' was a bit of an issue at the moment. He could still see colors and silhouettes... just enough to make this whole experience annoying. Plus he did NOT trust himself around all of that blood.

Loki may have healed the wound, but Aaron could see that Flag wasn't well. Still, he wouldn't push it. "Cindy gave her some of Mikko's blood. She seems stable. We're just waiting to see what side effects may come."


Flag nodded in understanding. But, at least she would live. "Good. Well if there's anything I can do to help while I'm here. I'll do what I can about King Shark."

Aaron patted his shoulder. "Go get some rest. We'll deal with him if he decides to come back. Who knows, maybe getting blasted by Loki and you stabbing his eye will make him realize we're not an easy meal."

Flag hoped that would be the case, but only time would tell. And, if he wasn't a threat for this community any longer, he would just move on to another location. Still, Flag was feeling too drained to stand around and talk about the 'what ifs' at the moment. He gave a nod at Aaron. "We'll catch up later." With that, he turned and headed back towards the cabin that would be their temporary home for the next week. Though, this was not the vacation they had had in mind. They would just have to try and make the best of it.

The little girl's mother nodded in understanding. It was a little scary that they didn't know what the side effects would be, but at least she had her daughter!! The little girl's eyes were beginning to turn a faint shade of red and fangs pushed through her gums which caused her to cry, but her mother did her best to comfort her. She was not expecting her daughter to bite into her arm!! Her screams caused Aaron to rush back in, and using his fake arm, he pushed it between mother and daughter, pulling the little one away...

Once they made it to Ivy's temp home Ivy looked around and set Dewy on the kitchen table and watered him. Dewy spread out his leaves and smacked his lips.

SHe listened to Harley tell her about her life, Flag, Digger, the kids. It seemed like a lot.

Can't wait to see the little ones. Digger on the hand I can go the rest of my life without seeing. That drunken bastard is rude and crude. But you know that. Me?

Ivy snagged a shrimp.

No girlfriend. I've been staying single. Just me and Dewy. I was in a town that was built in a large field. Plants everywhere. I started my little experiments that's where Dewy came from. Things might have got out of hand and the plants might have taken over there might have been some casulties. But on the bright side, the wild life is flurishing. I lived there for years on my own, But the animals became infected, oddly enough so did my babies. You know the plants. Not all of them, I noticed that the carnivorous plants were the one to turn. The virus mutated them and they started to pull themselves out the dirt and travel, hunting. Dewy managed to not get infected so I took him and fled. Been bouncing from place to place ever since. I did hear that there was a Bunker where Superman is living. But...I figured he wouldn't like me living in his town.

Cindy had her back turned to monitor the machines when the attack happened. Luckily Aaron was there to help.

Cindy quickly but carefully strapped the girl down to the table so she couldn't attack anyone else.

After she was subdued, Cindy ran to the mother to check out her wound.

I think you'll be fine. I don't know the risk of being bit by someone with infected blood like Mikko's. I don't think she can turn you. But...I can't be sure. I'm sorry. I can give you blood too. If you want to take that chance. Or I can clean the wound and we can see what happens.

Harley was a little relieved to hear that Ivy wasn't seeing anyone. Annnnd she tried to process that for a moment. Would she be jealous if there was a special lady in her life? Yeah, she would be. And, maybe it had something to do with more than just having to share her best friend. But, she knew that she would have no right to feel that way. She was with Flag after all and her friend deserved happiness. But she was thankful that she had no reason to be jealous! Ivy was all hers!


"Boomer ain't so bad now that he's married and stuff. I never thought he would find someone that would make an honest man of 'im. Well.. kinda honest. He's still Boomer. " She chuckled, but wondered if she should tell her friend that Digger was actually the second in command. Maybe that was tea for another time. Ivy would surely question Flag's sanity to make that choice, though it had been her pushing that decision.

She listened as Ivy told her about her life. About the plants, which she found incredibly interesting! And it seemed that her friend knew about Superman's bunker...

"Yeah, that's where most of the metas and mutants went. Well, the ones that we didn't get. We don't see a lot of Supes. When this all started goin' down, scientists infused some of the dead with kryptonite so it would make it harder for him to interfere with their corrupt experiments." She told her friend. "We see more of his son than we do of him. Lil Supes. He's like Jesse's age and oh so cute. I think he may swing for the other team."

"I'm good." Vic told Mikko, and took a seat at the table just to be close to her. He would listen out for the little ones and help out in the kitchen if Mikko decided that she needed an extra set of hands.

Zane returned the hug and Alyce smiled at the kiss. Both waved at Wade as he left, then Alyce picked up her son and carried him inside the cave with the little kitten in his arms and Dogpool trailing close behind. The kid had had a busy day and would surely sleep well tonight. He was already falling asleep in his mother's arms. She carried him into his little makeshift bedroom and tucked him into bed. The little kitten curled up on one side of the little boy, Dogpool on the other. Alyce smiled at the sight. This was not how she envisioned her night would have gone, but it was a welcomed turn of events.

The mother was shaken up, but mostly okay. Thankfully the bite was not deep and wouldn't require stitches. Maybe just a bandage. Aaron helped Cindy restrain the girl, who seemed confused over what she had just done...

"I'm okay." She told Cindy, staying close at her daughter's side. "I feel okay, maybe we can just treat it.."


Aaron wished that he could say if that was the right thing to do or not. Would the woman turn? Surely not, if Mikko's blood wouldn't turn the daughter, then it shouldn't turn the mother, right?

It seemed like Rackett had been through a lot. Hell, they all had. Life had certainly humbled them. "Sorry about your son. I've lost a few, too.." Though he had never met the one he had lost with Mikko, or the one with Cindy. It still hurt, but he couldn't imagine losing one that he had actually gotten to be a father to.

When Aaliyah piped up and defended 'the monsters', Gabe smiled and ruffled her hair. Even if he didn't share the same opinion as his daughter. Of course Mikko would never be a monster in his book and.. he would always love her. And as much as he wanted to hate Vic, even he could admit that the guy wasn't a threat. He had the potential, but didn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. Thorn on the other hand, that guy was a ticking time bomb and everyone had to know it. But Thorn had always been nice to the kids so of course Aaliyah would defend him.


"Two of those Turtles live here, man. And one has a daughter. But, as long as you're not an issue they won't fuck with you. And some of the 'monsters' ain't so bad. Just don't cross Thorn. "

Cindy treated the wound and bandaged it up. She gave the woman some water in case she started to feel a little sick. There was really no reason that Cindy could see that the woman would turn or become ill. But just in case.

Cindy then went back to the daughter to check on her.

Hey. I'm sorry we had to strap you down. I'm going to make you as comfortable as possible. and you'll be all better soon.

Ivy chuckled at the fact Boomer was married. He didn't seem like the marring type. But the past years have changed a lot of people. Some for the better, some for the worse.

Supes has a kid too? I guess it's good that people are still making life...Honestly with less people nature has been able to blossom. I like it. So hopefully the population dosen't come back any time soon. Speaking of. tomorrow I said i would look at the beaches crops. I have a few of my mixtures in the car. I might be able to give them large produce. I can do the same at the farm. I'll try my best not make too many flowers hungry for flesh.

Ivy ate another shrimp.

Shrimp...It's crazy that folks here are still going into the water with King shark eating them. Imagine the meat they could get off of him if caught and killed. Not that I want poor King to die. or be eaten. But it's a dog eat dog world now.

Rackett had a million questions about the immortals. Where did they come from? Who were they, he wanted to know who to watch out for. How did Mikko keep the screamers away? How much of a threat was this Thorn guy? Why was he named Thorn?

One of the turtles has a kid? Wow.

Lydia came to the table with a pot of seafood stew. She placed it in the middle of the table with some bread, and placed bowls in front of everyone.

I'm sure you have lots of questions. Lydia said as she gave Gabe and Rackett each a beer. Aaliyah got juice.

Yeah, but I'm sure I'll learn everything in time.

Aaliyah served herself some stew, standing on her chair and using the ladle to scoop it into her bowl. You do have to watch out for Angel. He's a bitter. But he's also small. I think you could kick him away if he attacks you. Aaliyah told Rackett with a serious nod.

Rackett waited for his turn at the stew and nodded back at the little girl. I'll remember that.

Wade made it back to the farm and was let in. The women managing the gates were getting tired though. Hopefully someone came and took their place soon.

Wade drove in and parked in his spot. He grabbed the box of kittens and slid out the truck. It was getting late. Wade didn't want to excite any of the kids this close to their bed time. So he walked with the kittens to his house. He would show off the kittens in the morning. Or, Josie would. He had places to be tomorrow morning.

Pete and Gwen's daughter Raven was all grown up and had moved from Bunker Hill to a place called The Grove. The Grove was once the large mall that that batman guy use to own. Raven and many others cleaned up the place and made it home. She still visited her parents and the The Grove traded with Bunker Hill.

Everything was going well for the people of the Grove. That was until Rapture was built. A lot of people went to Rapture where the government promised paradise. Raven didn't trust it though, and tried to tell people that it wasn't as safe as it seemed there. But others argued that Rapture was the future.

With more then half of her people moved. It seemed like the Grove was dying. She thought about moving back at the Bunker but hated living underground.

Finally she left after her people turned against her. Raven made it to Sanctuary, Abby of course let her stay but after a ferw days Raven left not liking the idea of slaughtering people.

Now she was homeless and driving around on her motor bike looking for a safe place to stay.

Mikko warmed up a steak and cut it up for Angel. She placed the plate of meat in front of the boy with a glass of juice. Angel dug in with a smile on his face.

Mikko sat between Angel and Vic.

Feel better?

Angel nodded at the question.

You can sleep in the bed with Vic and I tonight ok.

That way they could keep a closer eye on him, plus she figured that Angel would want to stick close to her.

Of course Ivy was happy that the human population had dwindled. Less humans meant plants could thrive...


"At the rate things are goin', the plants may rule this world soon. It seems everyone wants to eat us humans... even other humans. Stay away from Sanctuary, and the group that call themselves The Reapers. They're sick. They catch people and women are forced to.. reproduce. You don't even wanna know what happens to the babies..." Harley told her, reaching for another shrimp. This was nice. She was enjoying just hanging out with her bestie.

"The Reapers are what happened to Flag. Did ya notice his eyes? It's a long story. First he was one of Bishop's experiments. It turned him into somethin' close to a vampire. Mystique managed to get a cure, and that worked... but then we ended up prisoners of the reapers. They killed Flag, but Death let us have him back, but everything has a price with her.." She told her friend.

Harley would also hate to see poor King Shark get killed, but Ivy was right, he would feed a lot of people. "Yeah, that's a lot of sushi.." She chuckled. "Somethin' was off about 'im. Maybe he was a lab rat, too. There's so many mad scientists out there now. I'm glad you've managed to stay away from 'em! I figure they'll be after me if they ever find out that by me bein' with Flag, I've built up an immunity to immortal venom...."

The girls were in luck, because Troy was bored and ready to be back up on that guard tower. Ever since he had left the Reaper compound, he had a hard time being inside. Even though he had been a guard there, he had been a prisoner in a sense. Work, or be eaten. Being within walls walls made him feel uneasy. Up on the tower, he didn't feel so confined....


He climbed up and took a seat in one of the chairs...

"Any action out there?" He asked the two. "Anyone wanna go home?'

Immortal venom? Interesting. I wonder if i could help Flag with a cure using my expertise.

Ivy really only wanted to see what she could do with immortal venom. How could something like that benefit her? She didn't know but it could be interesting to play with.

ivy tossed Dewy a shrimp which the plant happily ate.

I look forward to seeing the farm. and meeting these immortals. Also I'll be sure to stay away from Sanctuary and the Reapers. They sound like someone needs to stop them, where's the super heroes when you need them?

Hearing that Ivy may be able to help Flag with a cure made Harley hopeful... "I'm sure he would be cool with that. I know he never wanted to be immortal or to need to feed on blood.." She snagged another shrimp and popped it into her mouth. "It would be kinda nice to be able to grow old together, you know? As it is, he's gonna outlive me and the kids. I know he doesn't wanna lose another family..." Of course she hadn't considered how Flag may feel about Ivy of all people playing around with immortal venom...

"I can't wait for you to see the farm, either. I think you're gonna love it! I'd say coming here for a vacation was a mistake, but it wasn't.. because we found each other! And yeah, those darn heros need to get back to heroing! Slackers."

Vic also thought it would be a good idea to have Angel sleep with them tonight. That way they could keep an eye on him. He spared the little boy a smile, happy that he was getting to bond with his mother. Hopefully the little talk she had had with him would stick with him and there would be no issues... or no regrets. 00

Hey! We were just talking about taking a break. I was going to see if Digger wanted to put anyone up here. You know, Those immortals really should be the ones up here keeping watch.

Rhea liked everyone at the farm, but having people who couldn't die seemed like the most logical choice to watch over the farm.

I hate to leave you alone up here.


Mystique however didn't care if Troy would be alone or not. Not that she disliked Troy, she just cared very little of humans. I'm heading home. Night you two.

Rhea gave Mystique a wave as she left the tower. Rhea then sat down by Troy. You seem to really like it up here. Wouldn't you rather spend time with Rain?

Angel quickly ate. You would have thought the kid hadn't eaten in days. After he was done, Mikko took his plate and washed it. She then scooped Angel up in her arms and gave him a squeeze.

You have got to be tired now that your belly is full.

Angel shook his head. But let out a long yawn.

Why don't we all go lay down, I'll read you and Vic a bed time story.

Ok! Angel agreed.

Mikko held out a free hand to Vic so that they could all go to the bedroom together.

Ally pulled out the couch, transforming it into a bed for Frost, and she was assuming Blaze wanted to sleep close to her. She grabbed a blanket and several pillows, placing them on the makeshift bed for them. The little boy had fought sleep for as long as he could, but was soon fast asleep in Frost's arms.


River pouted at her father, but kept playing her game. An hour was a long time, anyway! Maybe he would forget and they could stay up all night!! Star on the other hand was wondering if the adults were ever going to bed. Weren't they getting sleepy?


"Don't old people get tired?" She finally asked, growing a little impatient.

Frost thanked Ally and carefully got up with Blaze. She went over to the bed and laid Blaze down, covering him up.

She slipped into bed being careful not to squish the little boy.


Digger was also getting tired and figured so was Ally. He was about to tell the girls that they could go play in their rooms, Giving him and Ally some time to themselves but Star's comment made him quirk a brow.

First off, we're not old. Second, why you want us to go to sleep so bad?

well...Why can't he make you immortal. If he's like a vampire can't he turn you? Or does it not work that way?

Ivy got up and found the beer, she grabbed two and handed one to Harley. Ivy couldn't get drunk due to the chemicals that were surging through her blood stream, but she still enjoyed a drink with a friend.

Maybe the supers don't know about what's going on. Unless ol superman stopped caring for humanity. And what about Bats? Last I heard he dissapeared after some mall fell apart. But I heard that was a long time ago. He's probably dead. If the world wasn't dead you and I could really take over this world. Harley and Ivy, ruling over our forest covered kingdom.
