**appearance**
Elongated prehensile tongue, large toad-like eyes. brown/greenish tinted skin with rough texture. Black eyes. Brown, wavy hair, though usually keeps it shaved. Three toes on each foot, but normal five fingered hands.
**Powers and Abilities**
Superhuman Leaping: The Toad's primary mutant power is the ability to leap to heights and distances far greater than that of an ordinary human. He possesses some degree of superhuman strength, particularly in his legs, which grants him his superior leaping abilities. He has a vertical leap of over 24 feet and a horizontal jump of approximately 36 feet in a single leap. No definite limit to his leaping ability is yet known. Although the Toad usually stands in a crouching position, he can stand erect if he wishes. His unusually flexible spine enables him to crouch continually without strain.
Superhuman Stamina: The Toad's muscles produce much less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the muscles of an ordinary human. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue begins to impair him.
Superhuman Agility: The Toad's bodily coordination and balance are enhanced to levels that are beyond the human body's natural limits.
Superhuman Durability: The Toad's body is somewhat tougher and more resistant to physical injury than an ordinary human's. He can withstand impacts and physical trauma that would severely injure or kill an ordinary human with moderate discomfort. However, he is far from invulnerable and can be injured in ways similar to an ordinary human. For instance, he is not bulletproof and can be injured by weapons composed of conventional materials.
Super-Prehensile Tongue: The Toad has the ability to extend his tongue up to 25 feet in distance and ensnare objects and people. His tongue is superhumanly strong to the extent that he once killed a magistrate of Genosha by ensnaring him with his tongue and squeezing him, causing the magistrate to be crushed to death.
Mind Alteration: The Toad's super-prehensile tongue contains mind altering toxins bending a person's will so that they obey Toad's commands.
Toxic Saliva: He is also able to spit a caustic phlegmatic substance.
Paralytic Resin: His pores secrete a mucus resin that adheres to any surface and paralyzes the nervous systems of whatever it touches.
Superhuman Respiratory System: He can also contain large amounts of air in his expanding cheeks and throat and expel it with enough force to knock someone off their feet.
Toad has no knowledge of hand-to-hand combat. However, his powers enable him to execute a leaping kick of superhuman force at an opponent. Toad has a surprisingly great knowledge of advanced technology, thanks to his studies of machinery in the possession of Arcade, Magneto, and the Stranger. However, he is not himself talented at developing technological devices, mostly because he dislikes machines.
**Weakness**
Toad is near-sighted and has an aversion to light. He often wears light filtering goggles that allow him to operate in strong daylight that would otherwise blind him. More generally, Toad's lack of self-confidence and cowardliness keep him from realizing his full potential. As a result of not bathing and the fact that his skin secretes unusual chemicals, Toad usually has an offensive odor. Toad also has a neurological chemical imbalance, which explains his drastic changes in personality.

**History and stuff**
British-born Mortimer Toynbee was abandoned by his parents so early in childhood that he cannot remember them. He was placed in an orphanage where the other children, who regarded him as a freak due to his ugliness, his unusual physique, and his leaping ability, continually tormented him. Toynbee was so traumatized by his loneliness and the continual abuse he received that it affected his learning abilities. The teachers and administrators in the orphanage therefore regarded Toynbee as mentally retarded, even though, in actuality, he was of normal intelligence. So desperate did Toynbee become for affection that he developed a pathetically subservient personality, and would unquestioningly obey anyone he thought sincerely cared about him.
Mortimer Toynbee is a former subject of the Alamogordo Project, which observed the development of genetically flawed mutants. Due to his flawed genetic make-up, Toynbee experienced extreme physical changes and mental instability throughout his life, at one point requiring him to ingest a prescription drug Ridilin to remain stable.
At some point after achieving adulthood, Toynbee was discovered by Magneto and recruited for his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Magneto gave Toynbee the alias of the Toad because of Toynbee's powers, appearance, and personality. Toad blinded himself to Magneto's continual verbal and physical abuse because Magneto was out to conquer the human race that had rejected Toad in his early years.
As a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Toad met the Scarlet Witch and became infatuated with her, though she did not reciprocate the feelings), The team's nefarious schemes would often be confronted and defeated by the mutant heroes known collectively as the X-Men.
After one such confrontation with the X-Men, Magneto and Toad were captured by the alien called the Stranger and imprisoned on the alien's distant world. When Magneto first escaped, he callously left Toad behind, and Toad's attitude toward his master began to change. After being recaptured, Magneto escaped a second time and took Toad with him, but his continued bullying caused Toad's resentment to increase until it flared into murderous hatred. Toad abandoned Magneto to die in an explosion that followed an encounter with the Avengers. (Although it was later discovered that Magneto survived.)
Toad was once captured with Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch on the world of Arkon, but after their adventure there, he elected to stay instead of returning to Earth. Eventually Toad built a dimensional breach/space ship that allowed him to return to the Stranger's home world, where he studied and stole the Stranger's technology and equipment in an effort to become more powerful and thus more appealing to the Scarlet Witch. However, just as he prepared to return to Earth, he learned that Scarlet Witch had married the Vision. Enraged, he planned to strike out at her, attacked the Avengers to learn her whereabouts, and was defeated.
He served a short prison term and was released, at which time he commissioned the criminal Arcade to construct a sort-of "toad kingdom," complete with a series of deadly traps, in a seemingly deserted castle in upstate New York. Renaming himself the Terrible Toad King, he planned to entrap everyone who he felt had abused him, placing them in the palace where they would be killed in the attempt to escape.
His first victim was the X-Men’s Angel, but the Toad accidentally kidnapped the Thing, too. Just as the two were about to escape, Arcade stepped in and demanded immediate payment for his services. Unable to pay and fearful for his own life, the Toad fell into a panic. The Angel took pity on Toynbee and formulated an agreement with him to convert the castle into an amusement park, paying the debt in the process. The endeavor was a success until it was discovered that the castle's original owner was the villain Victor von Doom. Doctor Doom sent a robot of himself and a security force to remove the Toad and restore the structure to its original state.
Toynbee again fell into despondency and decided to commit suicide, an attempt which was interrupted by Spider-Man.Hoping to make Spider-Man his friend, he hired a group of criminals to attack Spider-Man, but in the process he met Frog-Man and Spider-Kid. The three formed a partnership of their own called the Misfits.
Though seeking the help of a psychiatrist during this period, Toynbee was still obsessed with the Scarlet Witch. He used some robot doppelgangers of the original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, but was stopped by Quicksilver. Toynbee and his automatons were removed to a government research facility (Project: PEGASUS) for study, but one of the robots reactivated on a timed program and freed its builder. Ultimately he again came into conflict with Spider-Man, whose approval he still valued. The Toad defeated Spider-Man and the Vision using a powerful robotic exoskeleton. Forcing his way into the New Jersey home owned by the Scarlet Witch and the Vision, he found the Scarlet Witch eight months pregnant. Finding her repulsive, he attacked her. She defeated him, but he escaped
He briefly joined Mystique's new Brotherhood, he later entered the Blood Sport (an ultimate fighting tournament based in Madripoor) where he killed the villain Eel. He also turned up in Magneto's nation of Genosha, which had just been destroyed by Sentinels, and the Toad helped construct a monument to Magneto's legacy

No one thought Toad was useful. They were all, Ooooo you have a long tongue. Or, oooh you can jump real high. They had no idea what other things he could do, they didn't know his full potential. They also didn't didn't know how far he would go to show them. But now they did. The five humans sat tied to their chairs. the room was very dim. The people, only teens, the oldest being 17 could hardly see. But Toad could see perfectly in the dim light. It was bright lights that bothered his eyes. He stalked around the basement room ignoring the two boys yelling and the three girls crying. The boys yelled about killing the freak, the girls tried to say how sorry they were. Humans really where such pathetic creatures. They were so weak and squishy.
I bet it sucks to not be at the top of the evolutionary ladder any longer. To know that your kind is obsolete. But! I for one hate to waste things. He flicked his tongue out and let it slide along the blonde girl's face. The toxins stung her cheek and she let out a scream.
Disgusting. You taste awful. The face of the young teen started smoke and burn off as Toad's toxins took effect. he got close to her face and sneered.
That looks like it hurts. He grinned at her and then took a few steps back and crouched down in front of them.
Silence. Even the boys stopped their yelling. the girl, in pain. passed out. Silence.
Then the attack. Toad leaped on the 17 year old boy, causing him and the chair to fall back. the mutant spat on the kid's face causing the boy to scream as his face melted into nothing but a bloody hole where a face was. this caused panic among the others. The walls echoed with the screams of the humans as Toad attacked each one until it was only the black haired girl left.
he circled her as she pleaded with her life. Finally. Toad untied her from the chair. the girl, shaking, stood up. Toad stalked in front of her, opened his arms up for her.
We're even now. Lets hug it out. Then you can be free. You have my word.The girl wasn't sure, but the seeing what happen to the others, and...what choice did she had. First her legs wouldn't move. the smell of burnt flesh and blood and soemthing toxic filled the unfilltered air. But she made her legs move, and finally, slowly, gave into a light hug. Toad wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close.
See. Everything is alright now. He told her in a soothing voice. before released the flesh eating toxins that secreted from the pours in his body. her death was the slowest, most painful, most rewarding.
Toad finally let her drop to the floor. He looked over the carnage he had caused. Humans. He thought. they really needed to start respecting their new gods.
