**Teleportation**
Kurt Wagner is a mutant whose primary mutant power is the ability to teleport himself, his clothing, and a certain amount of additional mass from one point to another virtually instantaneously. He does this by means of displacing himself through an alternate dimension briefly and reappearing in a desired, pre-selected location. He has been shown to be able to teleport distances of up to two miles under optimal conditions, although this is usually his extreme limit, and he can become severely fatigued if he tries to teleport that distance. He has exceeded this limit on multiple occasions.He possesses a limited unconscious extrasensory "spatial awareness" ability which prevents him from teleporting into solid objects within his immediate vicinity, but this ability diminishes the greater the distance he teleports. Because teleporting into other solid matter would cause severe injury or death, he will only teleport to an area he is familiar with or that he can clearly see at the time or has seen in the past. His power automatically displaces and gases when he arrives.
The process of teleportation places a strain on his endurance and that of any passengers; carrying mass other than his body and clothing when teleporting adds additional strain through his body. Through practice he has been able to teleport with a passenger over a lengthy distance without exhausting himself. Extensive training has raised his tolerance for teleportation, but most of his passengers lack this tolerance. Therefore, one of his tactics is to grab opponents and make several quick teleportations with them. They usually become weakened or even pass out from the strain.
After Nightcrawler teleports, he leaves behind smoke and a faint scent of burning brimstone; this is a small portion of the atmosphere of the dimension he travels through when he teleports. His teleportation power is due to a biophysical/biochemical reaction he consciously triggers within himself. A loud "bamf" noise is always present whenever he teleports (being the sound of air rushing to fill the space he was just occupying). His teleporting also causes a slight change in the atmosphere before he arrives, although only superhumans with heightened senses such as Daredevil can detect it.
**Appearance**
indigo-colored skin which allows him to become nearly invisible in shadows, two-toed feet and three-fingered hands, yellow eyes, pointed ears and a prehensile tail. Tattoo carvings of Angelic symbols cover his face and body, a symbol for each sin committed. His hair is a bit darker in color and curly. Teeth are pointed and sharp.
**History and life**
Kurt Wagner was shunned at birth due to his having blue skin, pointed ears, fangs, and a long pointed tail. At the time disguised as the Baroness Wagner, Mystique's true identity was revealed after she gave birth to Kurt, and the pair were chased by an angry mob. Fleeing to the nearby falls, Mystique threw the infant Kurt over the edge and fled. Kurt was saved by his Biological father, a mutant named, Azazel, and given into the care of Margali Szardos, a sorceress and gypsy queen.
Margali took baby Kurt to the small Bavarian circus where she worked as a fortune teller as a cover for her activities as a sorceress. Kurt was never legally adopted by anyone, but was raised by all the members of the circus, who had no prejudices against "freaks". Kurt grew up happily in the circus with his two closest friends and adoptive siblings, Margali's natural children, Stefan and Jimaine. During his formative years Kurt exhibited tremendous natural agility, and quickly became the circus's star acrobat and trapeze artist with audiences assuming that he was simply a normal human dressed in a demon costume. Kurt worked closely with Jimaine, and the pair soon became involved in a romantic relationship.
Years later, the Texas millionaire Amos Jardine, who ran a large circus based in Florida, heard of the circus Kurt worked for and bought it. Jardine intended to move its best acts into his American circus. However, he demanded that Kurt be placed in the circus's freak show, where he was imprisoned against his will and drugged in order to remain complacent. Eventually, a young boy would free Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler then ran away and made his way back to Germany where he discovered that Stefan had gone mad and had brutally slain several members of a lost race of half-human creatures. Kurt found Stefan and fought him, hoping to stop his rampage, but in the course of the struggle Kurt unintentionally broke Stefan's neck. The villagers of the nearby town of Winzeldorf discovered Kurt and assumed him to be a demon who was responsible for the killings. They cornered Kurt in the town and were about to kill him when they were all psychically paralyzed by Professor Xavier, who had come to recruit Kurt into his team of mutant heroes called the X-Men.
Kurt agreed to join the group, but before they left for America, he and Xavier went to the Bavarian circus so that Kurt could explain to Margali about Stefan's death. However, Margali was not there, and for years she held Kurt responsible for murdering Stefan. Later, she learned the truth and she and Kurt were reconciled.
**Priesthood**
Nightcrawler was always a follower of the Roman Catholic religion (if not always adherent to all of the rules, like the whole “no sex before marriage” stuff).
Kurt left the X-Men for some brief time to start an education to become a priest. Kurt succeeded after some months and remained in church most of the time. He and his church were soon attacked and Nightcrawler used his teleportation abilities to escape. He later finds out from his mentor, Father Whitney, that he had never been ordained as a priest and It was all a matter of some bad guys called The Neo, messing with his mind.

The moon was full this night. the air crisp, but not cold. The usual city smells seemed to give way to the strong smells of salt water, and rotting fish. Though unpleasant not unbearable. Kurt, or as he preferred, Nightcrawler, The fantastic, flying, Nightcrawler. He chuckled to himself at the thought. It had been years since hearing the ring leader loudly introduce him in such a way. Now he sat, alone, away from his home and school. His friends, his family. This was not one of those things they could help him with. Not something he wished to share with others. This was a burden that he carried himself. Like the lord carried his cross. This was his cross, his punishment.
Kurt liked to think of himself as a kind man. A man of love, compassion, all those good qualities others look for in another. And he tried. Lord knows, he tried to be the best he could be. His moral compass however, wavered. He was after all a man, no longer a child, no longer a boy that wished for boyish things. And, when a man, such as himself, is approached by a woman. A woman as stunning as she was. What is a man to do? And when that woman expresses such interest. No screams, no cries of him being a demon, or the devil. They way she looked at him was not love. But he in the heat of the moment he didn't care.
Of course it wasn't his first time, nor would it be his last he was sure. But she was a stranger. Not a woman he cared for, No one he loved. Just a stranger and a chance meeting in the night. And that was his crime. That was his sin. He was with a woman whom there was no love. He didn't even catch her name. A lonely freak. Now, he had to pay his penance.
The bible was laid out in front of Kurt, it and a single lit candle rested on the wooden desk inside the small hut. Bandages and a bottle of antiseptic sat on the other end of the table. He removed his shirt and placed a mirror just so, so that his chest was in clear view. For years he had carefully studied the symbols of the holy angels. This time, he chose the symbol of Cassiel. The angel of Solitude and tears.
He cleaned his small blade and the area of skin that would be cut. With prayer on his lips, he made his cuts, slow, careful, and precise.
It took an hour for the mark to be completed. still in deep prayer. Kurt removed himself from the chair, falling to his knees, to ask his god for forgiveness one last time, before finally heading back home.
