The Brave and The Bold

Jinx was nodding off. It seemed like it would be a quiet trip home, but that was okay. He would just have to find another way to keep himself awake and entertained for the drive home...

As luck would have it, he found a Cinderella CD in the overhead visor and popped it into the player. Soon the sweet sound of big hair rock music filtered through the cab...it was a damn good night!

Harley was enjoying the movie and the warm snuggles, but she couldn't get the Joker off her mind. Something about Willy Wonka reminded her of him...and something about a chocolate  factory triggered memories of the chemical plant...

Her past with Joker played like a bad movie in her mind. She felt....sad. after searching 18 years, she didn't get the closure that she wanted. Sure, she had said goodbye, but the creature she had said those words to was not her Puddin'..

It made her feel guilty for feeling this way after Flag had given her the life she had always dreamed of. She loved Flag to pieces, but a piece of her heart would always belong to the Joker.

Some days were better than others. She hardly thought of her past life at all, but then there were nights like tonight. Maybe visiting his grave would bring a little more closure. She had not visited since Bunker Hill had put him in the ground...

"Babe...I think I need to visit Puddin'...I mean, The Joker's grave..." She told him, but would not ask him to go with her. It wasn't fair to him..He had been there for her for 18 years while she looked for him, she wouldn't subject him to anything else that had to do with her fallen lover.

"You still need rest..you went through a lot. I could ask Digger to take me..."

Flag didn't respond, which made Harley fear that she had upset him. She shifted to look at him, discovering he had fallen asleep. A small smile stretched across her lips. He was adorable when he slept. She pressed a soft kiss against his lips and carefully untangled herself from him. It was time to set out and find Digger, even if she had to hit the roads to do so.

The sound of music woke Jinx from her little nap. She didn't mind though, in fact she felt a little guilty about falling asleep on him like that.

She sat up and started to play air drums, singing to the music.

The rest of the ride would be filled with singing and air instruments.

After their love making in the Humvee, Digger opened up the doors to let it air out. He stepped out the vehicle and got dressed then helped Ally.

He did his best to clean up the seat not wanting Flag to find out what they had done in his beloved Humvee.

Yer the best, love. I worked up an appetite. You hungry?

Ally got dressed and did her best to help Digger clean up the evidence. She would be sure to bring some smelly good spray out and give it a good spritzing.

"You know how to show a gal a good time." She complimented, catching his lips in a deep kiss before resuming the clean up. "I'm starving! If no one has made dinner, maybe I can be the hero.." She told him as she slid out of the Humvee and took his hand.

She saw Harley approaching and instantly got nervous, afraid she had caught them in the act. The girl looked...sad, but also relieved...

"Awww, you guys went to get the Humvee? Flag's gonna be happy. Is Chris dead?"

You don't have to do that I can cook us up something. If we have any food left. He didn't know how they hadn't run out of stuff by now.

Then Harley walked up to them looking sad.

Yeah we brought it back, don't know about Peacemaker. We couldn't find him so he might be dead. We left him the truck though. You ok?

So Chris could possibly be dead...but at least the Vee was home....and Digger. She had been worried about her friend. Ally was okay, too.

"Floyd and Cleo made spaghetti if you two are hungry..."

Then Digger asked if she was okay. She mustered up her best convincing smile. "Just missin' someone..." And she hesitated for a moment. Digger had just came back from a trip and was probably tired. Maybe she should do this alone...but the truth was, she didn't want to do it alone...

"Hey Boomer, you got plans after you eat? I was thinkin' of goin' to Bunker Hill for a bit. Somethin' I gotta do. And we can look for Chris' mutilated body. Maybe we can pickle his dick and keep it on a shelf for no reason."

Digger frowned at that he knew who she was missing and why she wanted to go to the bunker. He let out a deep sigh. Food could wait.

He turned to Ally.

Gotta go back to the Bunker. But you go eat I'll be back soon. He kissed her then turned back to Harley.

Get in the truck. I'll take you to the grave. But we are not pickling anyones dick.

It seemed Digger knew exactly why she wanted to go back. The guy knew her too well. He was willing to go now, and she was incredibly thankful for that.

"Flag fell asleep on the couch. I don't think he likes Willy Wonka. If he wakes up, will you tell him where I went?" She asked Ally.

Ally nodded at Harley and kissed Digger, giving him a tight hug. "Be careful, Love." After another smooch, she headed off inside. Maybe she would head to the den and see what Willy Wonka was all about. It sounded like a bad porno.

Harley slid into the humvee and smiled at Digger. "Thanks, Boomer. You're the bestest friend a gal could ask for."

Digger returned the hug and gave Ally's ass a little squeeze before letting her go.

He hopped back in the Humvee with Harley and smiled at her.

Yep I know. I'm the best.

He drove off back to the bunker.

So what made you want to visit him tonight? You and Flag get into a fight?

Harley was feeling a little better because road trips with Digger were always nice. He was like the girlfriend she never had. She could tell him anything and everything. She really adored the guy.

She cranked up the heat, happy to have the humvee back. She had worried they had seen the last of it.


"Nah. We're good. I mean, we had a little argument earlier because he wouldn't go down on me. When he came back from the lab that first night, we were foolin' around and some of his venom got on me..left a mark, so he shut down. Oral is important, you know?" All things Digger probably didn't care about, but he was hearing the details anyway.

"Anyway...I won, so we're good now. I was watching Willy Wonka and just got to thinkin' about Puddin'. Just one of those nights that's harder than others. I haven't been to his grave, so I feel bad about that...and I can't help thinkin', how would things be if he was still here..."

He didn't really need or want all those details but nodded anyway. It must have been hard with the venom and all. Though he was sure flag could get a handle on it.

Well. You probably wouldn't be engaged at all. Joker didn't seem like the marrying type.

He was hesitent to tell her that Joker didn't look for her. But maybe she needed to know. KNow that he wasn't the guy she thought he was. It would hurt her. But she would at least know.

Look Harl. I gotta tell ya. I lived with Joker at the mall for a while. He...He never looked for you, babe. He told us all you had been eaten. He hooked up with Mikko and a few other chicks. I thought you should know. I don't want you thinking that he was some great guy that looked every where for you. He doesn't deserve your love, not in life or in death.

Harley was not prepared for what Digger was telling her. Her Puddin' had never looked for her? At all? And he had hooked up with numerous girls, including her friend. Her heart broke into a million pieces. She couldn't stop the tears. She had looked for him, every single day. She never gave up. Sure, she had slept with someone too, but just one person and it had been for mutual comfort...

"I...know he wasn't a great guy, Boomer...he wasn't always nice to me. He was a dick most of the time. But...I loved 'im. I still do. I just thought he loved me enough to look for me, too..." She sniffled quietly, wiping at her tears.

"When the virus first hit, I turned myself in...thinkin' he would come to Belle Reve to look for me. A couple weeks in, they shut the prison down. The guards didn't release us, they evacuated and left us to starve...and most of us did. Floyd and I were the only ones that survived. Flag came and saved us.." She wiped at her eyes.

"I don't know why he couldn't love me..."

Digger reached over and took her hand in his.

I don't think he was capable of those emotions. It's not your fault. He was just an insane emotionless idiot. You gotta let him go. He told giving her hand a squeeze.

Flag is an idiot too, but at least he actually loves you. And you seem happy with him. You are getting everything you want. A husband, a family.

Digger didn't know what more he could say. to him it was a no brainer. Joker was an ass that was dead. The world was a better place without him. But Harley loved the psycho. He couldn't understand why. No one could.

He drove down the road trying his best to comfort Harley.

The truth hurt, but Harley needed to hear it. She squeezed Digger's hand, even managing a little smile when he mentioned that she was getting everything she ever wanted. It was true. Joker had never proposed, never gave her a ring, and always shot down her dreams of having a family.

"Yeah. I guess I am." Her free hand lightly rubbed her tummy. "I know I wasn't ready to be a mom again when I got pregnant with these nuggets, but now I wouldn't change a thing..."

Me nether. Can't wait to meet my little one. and Flag's little one, even though we all know I'll have the cooler baby. He said with a grin.

Soon they were pulling up to the bunker. he didn't bother parking in the garage figuring they were just coming to visit a grave. He pulled up near the little grave yard and parked.

You want me to come with you are do you want to go by yourself?

The trip home had been amazing. Jinx was certainly his new favorite traveling companion. There had been lots of rocking out and road sex...but at least they did not crash!

Soon they were pulling up at the military base and he parked, turning off the engine. "Home sweet home! Ready to go meet the gang? Maybe we should leave your weapons out here until we do the introduction thing..."

They made it home safe and sound. The trip there was awesome. Chris was proving to be one amazing guy. It had been a long time since she smiled so much.

When they parked she leaned over and pressed kisses along his cheek and jaw as he spoke.

Yeah. probably a good idea. I don't want anyone thinking I'm some crazy person with a load of weapons.

She slid out the truck and grabbed the bag with her cloths.

When Chris got out the truck Jinx took his hand and let him lead her into the base to meet everyone else. She was a little nervous meeting everyone, but she was sure she would get along with everyone. She was a joy to be around after all!

Harley chuckled quietly when Digger mentioned that his baby would be the cool one. She reached over and pinched his cheek. They had reached their destination and just seeing the graveyard made her heart ache...

"It's up to you. You can come if you want to. I mean, there won't be any dirty talk or nothin'.."

I'll let you go on your own for now. Give you some privacy. But if you need me just call for me.

He took off his coat and handed it to her.

Here, it's cold out there. You and the babies need to bundle up.

Harley was glad to see that he had gotten his signature jacket back, and once again he was trusting her with it. "Thanks, Boomer. I won't leave it behind this time." She leaned in and pressed a kiss against his cheek before sliding out of the vehicle.


The walk to the graveyard felt heavy, and the air seemed to get even colder as she stepped through the gate. It didn't take her long to spot Joker's grave, the dirt still fresh, littered with the fallen snow. No official headstone, but a large rock rested at the head end with his name painted on it, along with not so nice words that visitors had scribbled on the stone. She frowned as she took a seat on the ground beside the makeshift headstone and began trying to erase some of the not so nice names with her finger...

"Hey Puddin', sorry I haven't been here sooner...life got kinda crazy. " She spoke to the grave as she continued trying to clean up his permanent resting place.

"I know I shouldn't...but I really miss you.."

Death appraoched Harley. She stood in front of the woman and spoke in an echoed whisper.

I've been watching a few of you humans. Your lives have interest me greatly how you handle this new world. Ive become rather attached to a number of you. You and your group, The group at Bunker hill and the group that live in Shell city have my undivided attention.

I always followed a set of rules though, Never interfere with human affairs. But..Given the state of the world you live in now, I've bended the rules a few times, even brought back the dead.

Harley Quinn. I've watched you look for your love for years. Sadly you couldn't find him on time. It's rare that I see someone so dedicated to someone. I too know what it's like to love someone I can not touch. I'm here to make you a deal. A life for a life. i will bring back the joker, for one of your unborn.

Chris squeezed her hand as he walked her inside. The place seemed mostly quiet. It seemed like most had called it an early night, but sounds coming from the main room grabbed his attention...

"Is someone watching Willy Wonka?! I love that movie!!" He followed the sound into the den with Jinx in tow, a huge smile stretching across his lips as the oompa oompa song came on...he had to sing along!

Ally was sitting on the floor, eating a big bowl of spaghetti as she tried to enjoy the movie. She couldn't help but giggle at the big doofus.

Chris' singing was enough to wake Flag. He pushed himself up, a little disoriented and confused...

"Flag! Just the person I wanted to see! This is Jinx, my girlfriend! Is it cool if she stays here? She's totally safe! Jinx, this is Flag, he's the leader here.."

Flag was still trying to wake up and suddenly had Chris in his face. Still, he managed a tired smile at the newcomer and offered her a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Jinx. You need a place to stay? You're not gonna try to blow me up, are you?"

Jinx giggled at Chris' enthusiasm at the movie. he was too adorable! She saw the girl sitting down eating but it didn't seem like she cared to say hi. That was ok.

When Chris introduce her as his girlfriend she could have melted right there. They were official!? That made her so happy and she had the biggest smile.

Jinx took Flag's hand and gave it a shake.

Hi! No not going to blow you up. I was living at Bunker Hill but then I met my prince charming and couldn't bare to let him leave without me. So thank you for letting me stay!

Was that... Death? Like THE Death?! Harley was completely taken aback by the visit. She tried to make sure her hair was in place and wiped at her eyes...it wasn't everyday that you got to meet death!!

The woman seemed to like them, and had noticed her devotion to the Joker, and then offered her a deal. She could bring her Puddin' back?! But...she wanted one of her babies in return...

Her hope quickly faded away, replaced with a deep frown as she rubbed her stomach. "I didn't even want to be pregnant, but then...I saw how happy Flag and Boomer both were, and ...I learned they were girls and we named them...and... I love them. I couldn't do that to Flag or Boomer...or Star or River, they haven't even gotten to live yet..." She felt the tears threatening again. "Can you take someone else? Or, can I give you a back rub in exchange for him? Mistah J is actually a pain in the ass, so I would be doin' you a favor..."
